Hypnotherapy during Pregnancy
Hypnosis and reducing the risk of Post-Natal Depression:
McCarthy (1998) provided five 30-minute birth hypnosis sessions to 600 women and found a virtual absence of postpartum depression, compared to the typical rates of 10 to 15 percent.
Women with a history of postpartum depression did not develop this condition, even though an estimated 50 percent usually do.
Harmon, Hyan and Tyre (1990) also reported lower depression scores in the hypnotherapy treated group.
Studies and observation tell us that a simple intervention, hypnotherapy, has far-reaching effects both medically and socially.
